One of Britain’s greatest rock musicians returns in support Slapstick Festival for a unique event celebrating a lifetime of extraordinary stories. From the glory days of progressive rock and the excesses of the 1970s to television, comedy, broadcasting and unforgettable encounters with everyone from David Bowie to Monty Python, Rick Wakeman has become as celebrated for his wit as for his virtuoso musicianship.

Expect hilarious tales from five decades in showbusiness, reflections on the remarkable cultural explosion of the seventies, and plenty of surprises. The second part of the event sees Rick return to one of his favourite loves: The Movies. Rick will be improvising live piano accompaniment to a classic Laurel & Hardy silent comedy, chosen by Rick, before your eyes.

One of Britain’s finest musicians creating a unique film soundtrack in the moment. A celebration of comedy, music and classic comedy. With a chance to ask questions this is a rare chance to hear Rick in conversation in an intimate setting.
