Celebrating Terry Jones
Celebrating Terry Jones
Join us for a very special evening honouring the extraordinary life and work of Monty Python legend Terry Jones. A writer, director, historian and performer, Terry’s unique vision reshaped comedy and inspired audiences worldwide with his boundless imagination, wit and irreverence.
Terry gave us unforgettable Monty Python creations and immortal lines from “He’s not the Messiah, he’s a very naughty boy” to Mr Creosote’s explosive finale in The Meaning of Life. Beyond Python, he created bold film work with Julie Walters in Personal Services, and brought his imagination to the screenwriting of David Bowie’s film Labyrinth.
For this one-off event, Sir Michael Palin, Slapstick Festival Patron, offers a touching personal tribute to his close friend and long-time onscreen collaborator. In conversation with actor, comedian and writer Sanjeev Bhaskar, Michael will share memories of their working partnership, stories of Terry’s brilliance, and behind-the-scenes insights from their groundbreaking work together.
Illustrated with clips and unforgettable moments from Terry’s remarkable career: from Ripping Yarns and Erik the Viking to Python masterworks Life of Brian and The Meaning of Life – this is a unique opportunity to explore the life and art of Terry Jones.
