This screening of Buster Keaton’s acclaimed family-feud romcom Our Hospitality (1923) is a family affair in every sense, with three generations of Keatons on the screen and a fourth in conversation afterwards – Buster’s granddaughter Melissa Talmadge Cox, joining us live from California.
Our Hospitality (1923) brings action movie thrills to a high-stakes comedy of manners, with extravagant period costumes, dramatic landscapes, and some classic Keaton railroad stunts leading to a truly breathtaking climax.

Buster’s wife Natalie Talmadge co-stars as his star-crossed love, their baby son plays baby Buster, and Buster’s dad Joe Keaton appears as a high-kicking railroad engineer. We even meet the family dog, Dewey.

With an introduction by Polly Rose (University of Bristol) and musical accompaniment from John Sweeney.
