Armando Iannucci: Speaking Truth to Power
Armando Iannucci: Speaking Truth to Power
Few writers have reshaped modern comedy quite like Armando Iannucci. From On the Hour and Alan Partridge to The Thick of It, In The Loop, Veep and The Death of Stalin, his work has defined the sharp edge of satire: fearless, inventive and profoundly human.
In this special event Armando looks back at his remarkable career as a writer, director and broadcaster – exploring his inspirations and creative process.
Alongside clips, reflections and anecdotes from across his television and film work, Armando will discuss his acclaimed written work and his recent BBC Radio 4 series Parody or Die, which showcases his ongoing love affair with words, wit and political absurdity.
During the event, he will also be presented with the inaugural ‘Golden Baz Writers Award’ created to honour the enduring comic legacy of Barry Cryer by celebrating comedy writers whose work reflects his values: wit, warmth, originality and a deep commitment to the craft of making people laugh.
A heartfelt celebration and a joyous salute to one of Britain’s most brilliant, respected and compassionate comedy storytellers.
